Called to Serve

Every member of the Church is called to use the gifts God has given them in service to others. The ministries of Sacred Heart and St. James the Greater provide many opportunities to participate more fully in the life of our parishes, serve our neighbors, grow in fellowship, and help carry out the mission of the Church.

Our parishioners serve through liturgical ministries, music, faith formation, outreach, community life, service to those in need, and many other ministries and organizations throughout our Catholic community.

Whether you feel called to serve at Mass, help with parish activities, share your faith with others, or simply become more involved in parish life, there is a place for you.

WHAT DOES STEWARDSHIP MEAN?

Parish Stewardship is a formation process.  It assists parishioners in developing and deepening a personal investment in the ongoing mission of the Church. To quote a television announcer referring to Pope Francis during his most recent visit to the United States, we must all learn to “walk the talk.”

We are men, women, and children personally committed to living out the demands of the gospel and willing to share time, talent, and treasure to build up the kingdom of God here on earth, not only in word but also in action. And yet, despite the diversity of gifts and backgrounds, what brings the Church together as one is faith in Jesus Christ who challenges all his followers with a special mission – to serve others, to reach out to those in need, and to lead a life of holiness and love.  “Come follow me!” applies to us.  

As a parish community, we must work together and respond to the ongoing mission of the Church.  Let us build up the Church and carry out our mission to manifest more clearly the presence of the risen Lord in the world today.
